Porsche 911 Sport Classic review — powered by e
For a while now, automakers have been raiding their back catalogues for inspiration, hoping to evoke a whiff of a bygone age and a feelgood factor that’s missing from contemporary designs. Ford relaunched its Mustang in 2015; the wonderful Alpine A110 was reborn in 2017; Mercedes-Benz reworked the G-Wagen in 2018. Now it’s Porsche’s turn with the Sport Classic, a modern take on the old 911. It’s not strictly a reboot. Like the Mustang, the 911 has been in continuous production since 1964.
What it is, is a throwback to the days when you didn’t so much climb into a 911 as put it on like a springy training shoe.
With the Sport Classic, Porsche has taken a step backwards — in the right direction.
